IUHPE Conference International Union on Health Promotion and Health Education Canada 2007 will open at the main conference venue. The evening will begin with a welcome to the land by a local Indigenous person. An important element of this conference is a focus on Indigenous peoples’ health, and as such the evening will incorporate a variety of Indigenous entertainment. This event will feature an appearance by the award-winning Canadian Inuit singer Susan Aglukark. Interspersed with the entertainment will be speakers who will introduce many of the topics at issue during Canada 2007. Stephen Lewis, former UN Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa will inspire delegates with a keynote speech. A catered reception will follow immediately after the Opening Ceremony, providing delegates with an initial opportunity to connect and reconnect with friends and colleagues. The Closing Ceremony will be a time to look to the future of health promotion. Speakers will address this topic from a variety of perspectives, including from that of the WHO, Canada, the developing world and internationally. The Co-Chairs will announce the host city of the 20th World Conference. The Closing Ceremony will be followed by a catered farewell reception.
